State Tech used grant funds to create an offsite Machine Tool training center at the Lewis and Clark Career Center. Empty space was leased and updated under the direction of Site Directors Chris Muenks and Marty Acosta, Director of Lewis and Clark Career Center, Kathy Frederking, and State Technical College MoWINs Grant Manager, Nancy Wiley. Equipment and supplies were purchased; staff and faculty hired. Numerous industry partnerships have been created or expanded, while outreach pieces were developed and distributed.
Most importantly, participants were enrolled, trained, and employed. All told, more than 70 participants were served at the Lewis and Clark Career Center. One of the many success stories is participant Jeremiah Walton. Walton’s goal was to go to work for Boeing. He enrolled in the Machine Tool course during the 2014 Fall semester, and had completed the accelerated program by December. In January 2015, he was hired by Boeing. Mission Accomplished! |
